I recently have been told by all of my family members that my blog can be, or is somewhat embarrassing to them. Maybe it was the talk of pet peeves, maybe it was the talk of all the dancing, maybe it was pictures of a little girl doing yard work in a ballerina leotard?
Who would have thought??
So, I got permission from Ariel to post this because I just thought it was way too funny not to share.
Last week, we went to Amberly with the Ottingers again. While there, Justin and Ariel were talking about Justin's upcoming birthday and what he was going to do.
Ariel said, maybe he could have a Bat Mitzvah. She was not trying to joke or make fun. She was serious.
I then said (I could not help but laugh): Two problems Ariel with that suggestion. 1st: Justin will not be turning 13 and the BIGGEST PROBLEM: He's Mormon, not Jewish!
Ariel: OH, I didn't know it was for Jewish people.
Maybe it was only funny to me, but a week later it still brings a smile to my face. Out of the mouths of babes.
Updated on 7/16: For those of you who don't read comments, when Ariel read that I posted this, she was okay with it, but asked for me to PLEASE add that she hopes this post did not offend Jewish people in anyway. She was really worried about that, and since I posted this with her permission, I thought it best to add it. I ,too, hope if anyone of the Jewish faith (or friends of those who are) did not take any offense. None was meant in the posting.

That was so funny and came out just so innocently!! Oh, and there is a third problem! I'm no Jewish expert but I also think a Bat Mitzvah is for a girl and a Bar Mitzvah is for a boy, lol=)
Haahaa! Oh, I loved this! Thanks Ariel!
Susan, that is what I was going to say! You are right, the bar mitzvah is for a boy. How old will Justin be? I hope Ariel wasn't too embarresed!

Justin will be 15. I hope Ariel wasn't embarrassed too. Ariel is such a smart girl! Most kids her age (who aren't Jewish) wouldn't even know what a Bar or Bat Mitzvah was. It was just so cute, the way she said it. She sincerely wanted Justin to have a great birthday. We love you Ariel
I don't think she was that embarrassed, after all she did let me post it. The funny thing is that I have been educated too. I did not realize their was a different name from the girls and the boys, but it makes sense that their would be. After I posted it, she actually aske if I would please put on my blog, "No offense meant to Jewish people". She was really worried it might offend them. I told her I did not think (and I hope)that no one would be offended. Maybe I should add it?
Ariel did think that it would be fun to go to one. She said that she had heard about them from a cartoon (of all things) and it looked really fun. She said that the ones she saw were HUGE and EXPENSIVE looking. She thought it would be neat to go to one. Too funny.
Ariel sounds like my Shelby...she says stuff innocently but sometimes doesn't realize how funny it is til everyone cracks up laughing!!
