Mike went in for his annual checkup on Tuesday. This is something he has not done in 7 years. The last time he went, the doctor told him he was fit as a race horse and not to come back for at least 7 years. Now that he is 41, we thought this was as good of time as any. Actually, when he called to make the appointment, they almost did not accept him because it had been so long since he had last been in. They told him they were not accepting new patients. However, he convinced him that he was NOT new, it had just been a while. So in he went.
Well, the doctor did all of his "doctorly things" and was amazed that Mike was the same exact weight and had the same exact blood pressure as he did 7 years ago. Mike was a little sad that he did not use the words "fit as a race horse" though. He did tell Mike that he was in GREAT HEALTH. Then he added the next thing: "You should go and have more kids."
Mike came home and told me the doctors advice.
Now, if Mike had told me this about 2 years ago, I would have jumped on the idea. But now, I seriously don't think I could do it. Don't get me wrong. I love being a mom, but I don't think I could mentally start all over. This was my response: I would do it, if the doctor could guarantee me a free life supply of Prozac and therapy. Otherwise, I told Mike to go and tell the doctor to have his own kids. Maybe we should consider getting a second opinion! What do you think?
