Oh the Irony...

Today at church, on Mother's Day, our Opening Hymn was : "Love At Home". And what were my two dear daughters doing during the entire song, again on Mother's Day? You got it, Quarrelling. I won't say fighting because there wasn't actually any punches being thrown. But there was definitely bickering. "She's touching me", "Get Your Feet Off Me", "Get Away From Me", "Mom, she won't stop touching me." You Get the Point.
So, what did I, the Mom, do? I looked at them and (in what I thought was a whisper) said in a voice of frustration, "Can't you two get along for at least one day?! It's Mother's Day and here we are singing Love At Home and you two are acting like you can't stand each other." Well, Brother Klug must have heard me because he turned around and gave a little chuckle. What could I do but raise my eyebrows and give a little smile back. Oh well..
But the biggest irony of all....Our closing hymn was hymn 100--"Nearer My God To Thee". What's ironic about this you may ask. Years ago, I wrote down a song (so that Mike would not forget) that I want to be sung at my funeral....Hymn 100, "Nearer My God To Thee."
Someone has a sense of humor, for sure!

I agree. That hymn is a funeral song. I even asked the bishop why were singing a funeral song in sacrament meeting. Who knows?
