It's a Family Tradition

Dinner time that is. It is my absolute favorite time of the day. Some of you may say it is because I like to eat. Yes, that's true, I do, but that is far from the reason why. I love the fact that every morning and night, we sit together as a family at the table and have breakfast/dinner. It is so enjoyable. We talk, we laugh, we make jokes, we find out about each others day, we have gospel conversation, we tell stories and it's all so relaxed. I love it!
When Mike and I got married, I think that he was in that college student/bachelor stage "I eat dinner in front of the TV". I remember, one of our first nights having dinner as a couple (he will say that he does not remember this happening, but trust me, it did). He came home from his long drive home. At the time we lived in Pensacola and his job was in Mobile (shortly after, we decided to move to Mobile). I had the table all set, food ready. Very much a June Cleaver moment. Mike went right past me, grabbed his plate, and went to the TV. I was like: WHAT? NO, HE JUST DIDN'T. Let's just say from that point forward, we have eaten dinner together as a family with the TV off. It's our family tradition. It's very rare that we don't eat together as a family. It's just what we do. I can't imagine when the day will come when it will be just Mike and I alone at the table again. It's too sad to think about, but I hope it will be something my children continue to do when the get married and have children of their own. So for now, I'm enjoying the moment and loving it! And oh hey, can anyone pass the salt and pepper?
