Another Spring Fling has come and gone. This year ran so much more smoother. It was wonderful. I think the children all had a blast, at least I know my two girls did. Ariel especially liked it when Lisanka, Mrs. Nolen (our asst. principal) and I Karaoked the song, "Livin the Viva Loca". We won't mention the comment Coach Reid gave us over the Bullhorn about us and American Idol. I guess Ann Jordan can blackmail us because she made a video of part of it.
I ended up making cotton candy again this year. I don't really mind it, but it is VERY messy! Ann Jordan took a picture of how messy I got during the latter part of the day. When I get the pic from her, I will have to post it. All the parents around me where joking that I forgot to shave (I was so messy, I had to change). Oh, by the way, a few tips for anyone who has the desire to make cotton candy--plan on getting sticky, and it is probably wise to use the paper cones instead of your hands to grab the cotton candy. I hit two fingers on the center cylinder that spins and it HURT like nothing you can imagine.
Yes, another year went by without me taking pictures. Good thing I'm keeping this journal, because if not, it might be like the Odom family never existed. I'm trying to get better at remembering a camera. I think I need to get a good cell phone, not to use the phone feature, but to have a camera on me at all times. Who am I kidding...It would never be charged. I'm hoping Annie will post some great pictures on her blog and then perhaps I can photoshop my kids into them. LOL! Just kidding.
In my previous blog, I mentioned that I was going to go back to school that night to help finish some things up for the Spring Fling. Aimee, Lisanka, Dee and I finished up the prizes and then Dee and Aimee had to leave, so Lisanka and I decided to make more....COTTON CANDY! Lisanka did the making and I did the bagging. She is far more neater at this than I. Let me warn you, two things you don't want to mix-- pure sugar and two tired women. We were wired, but we had fun. We made cotton candy until 10pm that night! We did get scared once. In the middle of making a batch of the candy, I thought I heard the door, which was supposed to be locked, open. I asked Lisanka if she heard the door open. And so, we stopped and listened and we heard the door again. We both looked at each other and decided to muster up some courage and check it out. I grabbed the hand sanitizer (I thought that if nothing else we could attempt to squirt some in the person's eyes and RUN. Well, Lisanka being the brave soul she is, jumped out into the hallway yelling, "Hello, who's there?" No one answered (but would a psycho maniac really answer?). So, we went to the locked doors and saw a minivan out front that we did not recognize. Lisanka thought maybe we should check it out, but I, being the COMPLETE CHICKEN that I am, said, "let's just stay here because the doors are locked. Which in hindsite, didn't make any sense because we both heard doors open, so that meant that the "crazy" could have been locked in the building with us and the cotton candy. Anyway, as we turned around and started walking back, I noticed a light on in Mr. Baker's room.....yup, it was just Mr. Baker (who is far from a psycho) getting his sub plans ready for the next day. He said he saw us making the cotton candy and did not want to disturb us. He probably saw the two of us acting crazy, all hyped up on sugar, and wanted to SAVE himself, more likely. LOL. All ended well, and I didn't have to use the hand sanitizer afterall!
Spring Break has officially started. YEAH!!!!! I am going to take the girls to visit my mom and sisters for the first half of the week in Crestview, FL. It should be pretty fun. It's always nice to take a break and get away.
