This morning as we were getting ready for school, Ariel retold a conversation that she had with one of her best friends, Ethan Parkes, yesterday. Here is the conversation:
Ethan: Do you have birthday parties anymore?
Ariel: No.
Ethan: Why.
Ariel: Because it gets more expensive when you get older.
Ethan: OH.
I said, "Ariel, why did you say that? Because truly that is not why we don't throw parties? We don't throw parties because after throwing all those "elaborate parties", one day I realized that dad and I never got to enjoy that special day with you. It was always stressful with kids running around and us trying to make sure everything happened when it was suppose to happen. We wanted to spend that special day with you not a million other kids.
Then Ariel said, "Oh. Well, I didn't want to make you and dad look bad so that was the best thing I could think of."
Gee thanks Ariel--what would we do if you weren't always looking out for us! LOL
