I spent most of the day, rather I should say week, helping to get things ready for our Annual Spring Fling. It is funny to think that outside of the volunteers who will help run the booth tomorrow, which we are grateful for, and we hope they show up because it looks like rain, that this thing is usually put together (buying food, making cotton candy, prizes, getting booths ready, selling armbands, counting $ etc.) by about 10 parents. It is A LOT of work. Sometimes I think too much, but when I see how much fun the kids will have tomorrow, it will be worth it.
Today was pretty stressful because we had a lot that still needed to be done and little time to do it in. Matter of fact, I will be heading back there when Mike gets home. Because of this, I asked the girls if we could try to have a little bit of "quite time" on the drive home. With two girls, I don't know what I was thinking. That definitely was not going to happen. As we were pulling into our drive way, Cecily decides to pull a MacGyver on me and unbuckles her seatbelt and opens the door to the car and she fell out of the car while I was still driving. I was so scared. It is just a miracle from Heavenly Father that I did not run over her. I can't explain how grateful I am that he protected her. Having said that, it did not stop me from going crazy on her when I realized she was okay. I have told her several times the rule is that she is to never unbuckle while the car is running unless I say it is okay. She has done this several times before. She skinned her knee a little but thankfully she had on her backpack (which she claims pushed her out of the car---ya didn't know backpacks could do such a thing did ya?). I think it broke her fall and created a cushion for her.
When Ariel saw Cecily "pushed/fall/jump" out of the car, she said it surprised her so much that she bit down by accident on the lollipop that she had been sucking on and broke the bracket off of her braces. So after cleaning up Cecily and making sure she was fine, I called the orthodontist. They could not see her today, so during our Spring Break next week, I have to make sure we are back in town by Thursday so she can have it fixed. So much for "quite time". I'm just trying to remember I'm gonna Miss this someday....
